Spinal Alignment

What Is Spinal Alignment?

Spinal Alignment is one of the most misunderstood ideas in chiropractic, because there is virtually no such thing as misalignment. What most people think of as misalignment is actually protective changes in mobility at various places in your spine. When part of you moves less, other parts have to compensate by moving more. When even a small number of your vertebrae are slightly stuck in protective positioning (what chiropractors call ‘subluxations’), it can affect nerve function, create muscle tension, limit movement, and contribute to pain throughout the body.

Our Alignment Approach

Dr. Z uses gentle, precise adjustments to restore proper movement to the spine—from the base of the skull all the way down to the sacrum. Our approach is customized, using low-velocity/low-force adjustments for patients with sensitive nervous systems, or more traditional high-velocity adjustments for patients for whom that is appropriate. That makes our care safe even for people with trauma history, hypermobility, or heightened sensory sensitivity.

What Proper Movement Does

Reduces nervous system irritation and threat-response, restores normal range of motion, decreases referred pain patterns, improves the body’s ability to self-regulate, and creates the structural foundation for deeper healing work.
