What Is Lower Back Pain?
Lower back pain (lumbar pain) affects the area between your ribs and hips. It’s extremely common and can range from mild stiffness to severe, limiting pain. Common causes include disc issues (herniated or bulging discs), sacroiliac (SI) joint problems, muscular tension from stress or poor posture, sciatica (nerve pain radiating down the leg), and postural imbalances.
Why the Lower Back Is So Vulnerable
The lumbar spine carries most of your body’s weight and is the central pivot point for almost every movement you make. When this area is out of alignment—or when the muscles around it are in chronic tension—everything else compensates. Over time, that compensation creates more pain, not less.
