Why Neurodivergent People Need Different Care

Standard healthcare settings can be overwhelming for neurodivergent folks: fluorescent lights, rushed appointments, assumptions about how you’ll respond, providers who interpret sensory sensitivity as ‘difficult behavior,’ and clinical language that doesn’t match your experience. This leads many neurodivergent people to avoid care even when they need it.

What Neurodivergent-Affirming Chiropractic Looks Like

At Zoranovich Chiropractic, we don’t pathologize neurodivergent traits. We work with them. This means a calm, sensory-aware office environment, sessions that move at your pace with no rushing, clear explanation of what we’re doing and why before we do it, flexibility in how we communicate and how sessions are structured, deep respect for sensory boundaries and body autonomy, and genuine curiosity about your experience—not assumptions.

The Body in Neurodivergence

Many neurodivergent folks carry physical patterns related to their neurology: chronic muscle tension from sensory overwhelm, postural habits from sensory-seeking or sensory-avoiding movement, nervous system states that shift rapidly and intensely, and interoceptive differences (altered ability to sense internal body signals). Dr. Z’s training in somatic and nervous system work makes his own neurodiversity uniquely equipped to work with these patterns.
